Anna and Denver went from bonding at university parties to saying ‘I do’ in the most incredible, contemporary waterfront wedding. From a Hampton-inspired theme to fabulous outfit changes, these two hosted the dreamiest celebration.
Just Friends…
Anna and Denver first met each other at a university party hosted by a mutual friend. After 3 or 4 years of enjoying their friendship and relishing each other’s company, they realised their relationship could certainly become much much more.
Aloha Wau Ia ‘Oe (I Love You)…
This couple’s proposal story is something out of a dream! While enjoying a family holiday in Hawaii, relaxing on the white sands and looking out over the blissful ocean, Denver orchestrated the most magical surprise. Anna thought she was being whisked away to a lovely restaurant for breakfast, but Denver had something else in mind! Denver had organised an unforgettable helicopter ride across the entire island, which is the moment Denver chose to propose. Following on from the helicopter ride, the couple met up with their family for breakfast. The pair managed to act nonchalantly and waited to see who could spot the glimmering new ring on Anna’s finger.
Beachy and Serene…
When choosing their wedding style, the couple decided on a casual, beachy but elegant theme, which perfectly matched their opulent oceanfront wedding venue. Their wedding style consisted mainly of neutral tones, with highlights of whites, greens and blues. These were the perfect shades to complement the serene surroundings of Whale Beach, located on the idyllic Northern Beaches peninsular of Sydney.
Two Celebrations are Better Than One…
Denver’s family comes from Indian heritage, so his parents had arranged for the couple to enjoy a Pani/Roce ceremony before their Hampton-inspired celebration. This is a pre-wedding blessing is filled with music, dancing, colourful Sari’s, and the tradition of being covered in coconut milk.
When Past Meets Future…
Anna and Denver’s church ceremony was held at Anna’s high school within a jubilant stain glass chapel. Being able to marry the love of her life within her school was such a meaningful and beautiful moment that will be treasured forever. “I’m a PLC girl born and bred so it meant a lot to me to be able to get married at my school and in such a beautiful stain glass chapel” the bride shared.
Family Affair…
The couple decided to have their siblings by their sides on the day but decided against using any official title and responsibility of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Anna’s four sisters were able to choose their own outfits, hairstyles, makeup, and jewellery but their outfits needed to be white to match the angelic aesthetic of the bride. Each sister celebrated their own style but Anna’s stunning gown still took centre stage. Denver was joined by his brother who wore a dapper charcoal grey tailor-made suit offset with a floral tie and pocket square which looked lovely next to the groom’s style.
Elegant & Individual…
Anna’s gown was beautifully elegant with unique detailing featured on the stitching to complement the simple style. The dress was an ivory tone, completed with a pearlescent silking sheen. The bodice featured wide straps which descended into a structured waistband before flowing into a smooth, floor-length skirt with an incredible high leg slit. The modern open back was finished off with intricate pearl buttons running down the waistband. Anna wore the most showstopping silver heels to add some serious individuality with Anna’s something borrowed being her sister’s pearl scattered veil. The groom wore a dapper blue and silver tailor-made suit with a crisp white shirt and navy blue tie. To complete the look, Denver’s buttonhole flower was a little Calla Lily to match Anna’s neat bouquet.
Hampton’s Heaven…
The reception was held at the dreamy Moby Dicks at Whales Beach. This true boathouse venue is decorated with whitewashed walls, large pots of gorgeous florals, and a calming view of the ocean flooding through the large wall of windows. The couple knew this was the perfect Hampton-style venue to suit their wedding theme. They made the room their own by adding large bowers of greenery hanging from the ceiling and three alternate height vases filled with white dahlias and additional greenery. The table setting was kept simple but stunning with white tablecloths and grey napkins to offset. Each menu was personalised with their guest’s name, which also doubled up as a name card. At the end of the celebration, everyone received bonbonniere of a glass jar filled with white M&Ms and wrapped in a personalised ribbon, the perfect finishing touch to their white aesthetic.
The Power Change…
One of our favourite surprises of this beautiful celebration was the bridal outfit change, and Anna absolutely smashed it! From her magnificent gown, Anna transformed into a killer jumpsuit which was the epitome of Anna’s style. “I’ve always wanted to wear a suit and when I tried my Toni Maticevski suit on, I fell In love with it. It was still simple but also very funky which is my style!” The structured suit featured rippling white layers and a phenomenal train!
Words of Wisdom…
Of course this gorgeous couple had some fabulous wedding advice to share after planning such a spectacular day. “Planning can be stressful! Take time to de-stress and enjoy planning your day too! Woo-sah (Bad Boys 2 reference)!” they shared. “On your wedding day just have fun and don’t sweat the small stuff!”.
