Wedding Story
Photographer’s Remarks
“Victoria and Andrew’s garden wedding is quite possibly one of my favorites to-date. The two of them decided they wanted to have a micro-wedding ceremony at the Denver Botanic Gardens in Colorado, USA, with a small group of friends and family present to witness the exchanging of their vows.
Victoria actually worked at the Botanic Gardens as a translator, so the gardens were a special place to her. She had especially fallen in love with this little historic greenhouse tucked away in a private corner of the gardens. She knew that it’d be the perfect spot to host their intimate little ceremony. Victoria loves flowers and greenery, and she wanted a way to showcase that at her wedding, making the garden solarium the perfect backdrop.
I met up with the two of them around sunrise the day of their wedding so we could capture some pre-ceremony photos at the gorgeous marble pavilion next door to the gardens. These two ran around, danced, and played in the morning light, and then we drove down the road to one of their favorite coffee shops, where the two of them snuggled up and enjoyed the moments before their morning ceremony at the gardens.
After coffee, we headed back over to the gardens and to the greenhouse where they’d be having their ceremony. The greenhouse is covered in glass and dusty, pale green metalwork reminiscent of an art nouveau style with hints of art deco. It has a very organic, botanical look to it, and the light streaming in through its windows makes it even more magical. Their wedding weekend was actually the first time Victoria and Andrew’s parents had actually met each other, and you could see the emotion in everyone’s eyes as they had the chance to get to know one another and witness the love Victoria and Andrew shared for one another.
While their ceremony was on the smaller side, Victoria and Andrew knew they wanted to have a larger reception where more friends could attend and celebrate with them. Andrew’s parents live in Denver, not too far from the gardens and offered to host the reception in their gorgeous backyard.
So that afternoon, Victoria and Andrew swapped out their wedding clothes for something more casual and enjoyed backyard drinks and food with their circle of loved ones. They made sure to beautifully decorate the backyard in a way that felt truly personalized. Each of the cocktail tables featured succulents (Victoria’s favorite!) and even had little photos of Victoria and Andrew at different stages of their lives and at important milestones. We snuck out later in the evening and adventured around the neighborhood, snapping photos of the two of them in a nearby park at sunset and with Andrew’s beloved green Jeep.
A few days after their wedding, I met up with the two of them to go to Rocky Mountain National Park, where we adventured in the mountains at sunrise and I snapped photos of them exploring in the alpine tundra together. Andrew loves hiking, and this was a really fun way for them to incorporate one of his favorite activities into their wedding celebration, too.
One of the things I particularly love about Victoria and Andrew’s wedding is that they made sure to incorporate personal touches throughout. From the personal photos displayed at the reception, to having a ceremony and post-wedding adventure in the places that meant so much to them, Victoria and Andrew made sure their wedding was a reflection of their unique style.”
